What: "Tibetan Science Conclave - III"
Where: "Tibetan Youth Hostel, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"
In view of the interest of increasing number of Tibetan students in pursuing scientific research studies, we are pleased to introduce the third Tibetan Science Conclave (TSC-III) with the theme “understanding scientific research”. We have designed this conclave to help our participants understand basic scientific research methodologies by bringing in experts and active researchers , and allowing our participants to interact with them and learn from their experiences. We strongly believe that TSC-III can be a great platform for anyone who wants to learn more about scientific research irrespective of whether they are currently pursuing research studies or intend to do so in the future. Topics such as research methodology, literature review/studies, recognizing research questions, finding a research supervisor, and importance of networking in research will be covered.
In brief, the following will be featured in TSC-III:
- Participants will have day-long educational visit to one of the reputed research laboratories in India.
- Lectures by scientists from diverse research fields encompassing the various scientific majors that our participants will come from will be arranged.
- Participants will be encouraged to compete for either one or all of the three contests: 1. Science working model contest, 2. Research paper/oral presentation and, 3. Poster presentation on any scientific topic. Winners in all three contests will be recognized with exciting prizes.
- Inner Science or the Science of Mind is gaining increasing attention from modern scientific communities. TS2 will invite resource persons and experts to highlight the convergence of modern science and ancient wisdom of Buddhist Science.
- A Tibetan exile policy maker will also be invited to present and discuss issues related to science education in our community and initiatives undertaken by them in the improvement of science education in our schools, as well as in our communities at large.
- Tibetans who have PhDs or are currently pursuing PhDs in scientific fields will be invited to share their experiences.
