Science and mathematics are often perceives

From the time immemorial, science has made great contribution for the welfare of mankind. Although the importance of scientific philosophy was adopted in many countries but remain less popular in Tibet. Therefore, post 1959 Tibetans in-exile under the dynamic leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama put maximum effort to learn modern education besides preserving our rich Buddhist philosophy. Science is one of the key areas of modern education.

Science and mathematics are often perceives as difficult subject by school going students and parents. Such approach has much long term effect by making us materially handicap. These dogmatic approaches could be eliminated by showing the rather “fun-filled-experience” of learning science by Tibetan students in post-graduate and research levels. A juncture where Tibetans with scientific temper could associate and make a join contribution to our community for both present and future Tibet forms the basis of Tibetan Scientific Society (TS2)-a non-profitable organization.

There are number of Tibetan students in pursue of scientific knowledge spread over in various cities of India/outside India. They are in different environment, expose to different resources/information with diverse experiences in the field of science. To grow in par with the world, we need individual expertise in different fields of science and technology, and this could be largely fulfilled when one works outside our community as far as material facilities as well as working atmospheres are concern. These Tibetan expertises in different fields of science are neither non-interconnected nor less exposed to Tibetan community.

It could be partly out of interest that the Tibetan students take up science as their major subject and partly out of enthusiasm that, we need to prosper in the material world too. Therefore, TS2 is not born out of one individual thought or a group of members; it is by convictional need of such association that dwells in the everyday thoughts of Tibetans who are in the field of science. At the same time TS2 doesn’t mean that only science can bring a change in our community or science is the only factor.
